Shadow Man : Symphony Of The Dead

I know, I know its been a long time coming. 3 years of noodling once in a while when I got the time between "Remastering" this, and Bloonifying that.

When writing this music, I wanted to make sure it still felt that it could have been in the original video game (1999). I have used digital instruments reminiscent of that gaming era. The instruments are not as dynamic as 2021 digital instruments, so the tickling of the ears needs to come from the notes themselves rather than the performance.

The music itself doesn't tie to a specific place, scene or character from the game. Though it does weave its way through the Main Theme, and Luke's Theme. There is no BOSS music to be found in this rather reflective piece.

Those of you that have read the back story to Mike and Luke will know that there is grief within their story, and that grief is written into this music.

Grief is the hardest thing we humans have to deal with on an emotional level, it touches us all, and the foreboding of ones own death, can also make you grieve for your own loss as you know that in time you will no longer be with the people you love.

But there is also hope and reflection here. Mike lost his brother, and his parents, indirectly caused their deaths. His grief pushed him to such a dark place that he lost his soul. However even then, there was hope. Mike hoped to redeem his soul by saving the world, and even perhaps finding Luke and bringing him back from the world of the dead.

It was not to be. But there is some redemption in his story, and perhaps in some distant future, we'll discover together what becomes of Michael Le'roi.
