about

Where to begin? Okay, so back in 1996 I was hired by Ocean Software to work as the composer for a game in development called SILVER. I worked on the game for 13 months, at which point there were a number of redundancies, I along with a lot of good mates lost our jobs. What was controversial about this is that the game continued to be made. Ocean had recently been bought by TITUS which resulted in massive restructuring, and they wanted to downside the workforce. So that was that. If I had realized at the time, I could have fought for my position, as the game continued to be made.

However, that was not to be, and I went on to be hired by Acclaim Studios, and to work on Shadow Man. Which I suspect most of you are familiar with.

But back to Silver.

This score is incomplete, as obviously the redundancy was unexpected. So not all of the music planned was written / mixed. This collection here is the work in progress music that I had put together within those 13 months, along side working on a couple of other projects. (TOTAL DRIVING, MOTOR MASH)

I'd say the score is missing about 15-30 minutes of additional music, including extra Combat pieces, and additional themes for some landmark locations. Generally speaking these would not be considered final mix / masters because that would have been done once all the music was written and balanced against each other.

So you hear this in rather a raw form.

If you are familiar with the game SILVER that was released a few years later, and is now on STEAM, you will be familiar with the names of the tracks, as areas in the game.

I hope you enjoy this, its a whole year of my life in music.
